Monday Morning Painters, 9 a.m. to noon

The Monday Morning Painters is a casual group of dedicated, professional artists who meet every Monday morning for breakfast and then paint together, each using a favorite medium such as watercolor, acrylic, oil or pastel. Their subjects include various area locales: the Maumee iver, Lake Erie and, other scenic places in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.

The group was first established in 1958 by several prominent Toledo area artists. It was then called "Group of 9". The charter members were Ray Block, Walter Chapman, Jim Harris, Hal Kinder, Julius Orosz, Don Shinew, Ernest Spring, Ruskin Stone, and Paul Sullivan.

Today the Monday Morning Painters group has more than thirty active members, and many have earned top regional and national honors for painting. A candidate for membership must be sponsored by a member as a qualified, active artist.
